Earlier this year, as part of a big landmark birthday present to myself, I spent 10 days on the east coast traveling to New York City, Philadelphia and Washington D.C.  I had never been, and am a bit of an "information junkie" and was desperate to see the hundreds of places I saw on TV, and some of the most famous places in our history as a country.  Some of those places we even have as buildings for Poser!  It was crazy to me to be standing in front of a building that only month earlier, I had put on the front page of our website.

One of those buildings is Carpenter's Hall, made for Poser by Meshbox Design.

It's pouring here in Watsonville, California and I find myself wishing that I were far away on a sunlit beach.  Unfortunately, the closest I am going to get to tropical is gazing into the deep ocean waters of Aquazone.  I just returned from a week at MacWorld, my first foray into the world of Mac geeks, where for several of the days, I walked the booth handing out show special flyers, answering questions and showing off the beauty of digital fish who don't die on you if you don't feed them.  I actually became pretty attached to my little swimming buddies, and found that other people were equally as excited.  If you are not familiar with Aquazone, it's more than just a screensaver, but a series of interactive, virtual aquariums that you can customize.  While my poor fish at home swam around a floating vacation feeder, I clicked away on the mouse miles away at Macworld and certainly overfed the buggers on my screen, delighted at the frenzy created when the flakes appeared on the screen.  It's just so addictive to play with them.  And it doesn't even make you feel guilty when you tap on the glass.

Santa Cruz Lighthouse by Tori

I had read an article a while back about how people were snatching up lighthouses up the coast and were turning them into little hostels or bed and breakfasts and thought it was such a neat idea.  I'm aware that the selection of lighthouses on the west coast of the United States pales in comparison to the east coast, but I still find myself amused by the beauty of the ones that I do have access to.  Especially since one of my favorite places in our town is the one here, I've taken a bit of a fancy to them overall. On Saturday, I'm getting in my car for a solo roadtrip adventure away from my keyboard and up Highway One to Point Reyes, hopefully seeing no less than 5 beautiful guiding beacons to capture in photos, with a chance to see over 10!
